Playing Half-Time Grooves

In drumming, half-time grooves consist in accentuating the third beat – principally with the snare drum. Half-time beats are not to be confused with backbeats (or afterbeats), where the accent constantly lies on the second and fourth beat. Where in rock or ballad you can perform half-time grooves in a binary way, in the famous half-time shuffle you should opt for ternary playing. This course provides a video demonstration example, four technical exercises with their corresponding recordings, as well as six drum grooves you can play along to backing tracks.
