Unlike the binary way of playing, where beats are divided into two parts, the ternary way consists in dividing the beat into three parts. With its notorious swaying between 2/3 - 1/3 (quarter- and eighth notes), the ternary way of playing brings a touch of swing to your basslines. If you want to play blues, shuffle and jazz, you really need to comprehend ternary rhythm. This course provides a video demonstration example and a technical exercise with its corresponding recording, as well as nine grooves and basslines you can play along to backing tracks.
